Patient Process: Scheduling a Consultation
You can become a patient of the
Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati whether or not you are
referred to us by a physician.
The steps to scheduling a consultation are quick and easy.
Step One: Contact the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati
Please call 1-888-FETAL-59 (1-888-338-2559) for more information or to schedule an appointment. A patient relations representative will take your call and request basic information, including name, address, due date and name of referring physician, if applicable.
A nurse coordinator or a Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati director will speak with you to gather information about the diagnosis and to confirm the center is the right place for the evaluation and treatment of you and your baby. A packet with your itinerary of diagnostic tests will be mailed to you.

Step Two: the Initial Visit to the Center
Your initial visit to the center will involve a full day of diagnostic testing and evaluation. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member to accompany you. You will be seen by a pediatric fetal surgeon along with a maternal-fetal specialist and / or a neonatologist, geneticist and other specialists as required.
After all diagnostic tests are completed, the fetal team will meet with you to explain the results, prognosis, collaborative plan with your referring physician, impact on the delivery and will recommended delivery plans, a typical neonatal course of action for you and your baby and near and long-term outcomes.
You will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive counseling from our professionals on staff.

Step Three: Making the Decision on Treatment
You and your family will receive comprehensive information so you can make an informed decision as to next steps and treatment. Most conditions are best treated after the baby is born. In rare circumstances, fetal surgery may be considered for life-threatening conditions. It is ultimately your decision whether or not you obtain treatment at the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati and what form treatment takes.
We also provide you with names of other high-risk pregnancy patients and families who have experienced similar medical conditions, encouraging you to contact them for further information and support.
