Fetal Surgery Fellowship Training Program Goals
Goals of the Fetal Surgery Fellowship Training Program at the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati are:
- Understand the prenatal natural history of fetal index cases
- Integrate prenatal diagnosis with perinatal and neonatal management strategies to optimize perinatal outcome
- Acquire basic knowledge of prenatal ultrasound, its indications, modalities, and limitations in imaging for fetal index cases
- Acquire basis knowledge of fetal echocardiography in prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart defects and use in evaluation of cardiac function and dysfunction in fetal index cases and in intra-operative monitoring during fetal surgery
- Acquire basic knowledge of fetal MRI in the diagnosis and evaluation of fetal index cases
- Participate in patient counseling sessions for all fetal anomalies referred for evalulation
- Acquire experience with pre-operative management, intraoperative techniques, and post-operative management of EXIT procedures, fetoscopic surgery and open fetal surgery for fetal index cases
