Fetal Therapeutics Fellowship Rotation
One-Month Fellowship Rotation for Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellows
The Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati offers a one-month fellowship rotation in fetal therapeutics for maternal-fetal medicine fellows. During this rotation, the MFM fellow will gain specialized experience in the multidisciplinary, multimodal evaluation and treatment of pregnancies complicated by fetal abnormalities.
Fetal Care Center Specialists
The Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati brings together renowned fetal and maternal medicine specialists, leading technologies and a full range of integrated support services from Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital and The University Hospital.
This innovative collaboration makes the Fetal Care Center the only comprehensive fetal diagnosis and therapy program affiliated with:
- A top children's hospital
- Pediatric surgery and maternal fetal medicine training programs
- Two Level III maternity hospitals
- Three Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units
Diagnostic Modalities
Diagnostic modalities commonly utilized at the Fetal Care Center include:
- Detailed obstetrical sonography
- Ultrafast MRI
- Fetal echocardiogram
Therapeutic Interventions
Therapeutic interventions include many advanced procedures only available at a few centers throughout the country:
Diagnostic and operative fetoscopy
- Twin-twin transfusion syndrome
- Amniotic band syndrome
- Vascular lesions of the placenta
- Minimally conjoined twins
Fetal shunt placement
- Bladder outlet obstruction
- Congenital pulmonary airway malformation
- Pleural effusion
Open fetal procedures
- Congenital pulmonary airway malformation
- Cervical teratoma
- Sacrococcygeal teratoma
- Pacemaker placement for complete heart block
EXIT procedures
- Congenital diaphragmatic hernia
- Airway obstruction

The fellowship rotation in fetal therapeutics for maternal-fetal medicine program is accepting applications on a first come, first-served basis. Applications for Ohio training licenses should be submitted at least 12 weeks in advance.
