Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs)
The Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati offers Level III (the highest level of expertise) Neonatal Intensive Care Units at Good Samaritan Hospital, The University Hospital and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, three outstanding facilities dedicated to the care of pre-term and critically ill babies. Our NICUs draw upon the expertise of one of the largest Neonatology groups nationally, in terms of faculty and expertise, to provide the care each infant needs.
Staffed by experienced nurses and physician specialists, these technologically-advanced units offer leading-edge care and equipment for each infant in a quiet, nurturing environment, as well as privacy and comfort for you and your family.
- Good Samaritan Hospital's NICU is uniquely designed around the delicate little lives served. The unit provides individual, home-like areas for each baby and family. Comfortable chairs let parents relax and visit quietly with their baby. Window shades operate on sensors to keep the light level at just the precise level for the fragile infants. Noise and temperature levels are monitored and controlled. A long list of trained volunteers await the opportunity to be "rockers" – people who literally hold the infants and rock them for a designated time, providing warmth and love when parents cannot be present.
- The University Hospital's Level III NICU is known for its excellence in caring for high-risk newborns. With internationally recognized neonatal and perinatal experts and services, you and your family can be assured that your baby is in expert hands. This 24-hour unit is dedicated to integrating the lives of you and your baby right from the start and encourages you to visit, feed and cuddle your baby as often as possible. Every member of the caring staff is devoted to the tiny patients they care for and, also, to providing emotional and practical support to parents and families.
- The Regional Center for Newborn Intensive Care / RCNIC at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center has a multidisciplinary staff that combines clinically advanced treatment with loving attention as they provide the full spectrum of care that preterm and critically ill babies may require. Parents and families find comfort in the attractive and soothing RCNIC setting.
