Fetal Heart Program
At the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati, we partner with the Fetal Heart Program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center to detect many types of heart defects early in pregnancy. The Fetal Heart Program, directed by Erik Michelfelder, MD, is part of the Heart Center at Cincinnati Children's. Its goal is to provide exemplary care to the fetus diagnosed with structural or functional heart disease. By partnering with his team we can support the fetus and expectant family in a compassionate, comprehensive manner.
Using our interdisciplinary approach, families have access to comprehensive care, including:
- Cardiac imaging (fetal echocardiography)
- Consultation with a fetal cardiologist and cardiothoracic surgeons
- Education
- Counseling
- Support services such as genetic counseling and social services
Fetal heart conditions treated include:
- Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)
- Atrial Flutter
- Heart Block
- Fetal cardiac dysfunction
