Maternal-Fetal Medicine
The Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati offers extensive testing and management of high-risk pregnancies. Maternal-fetal specialists or perinatologists -- physicians with 2-3 years more training than regular OB / GYNs and who specialize in the care of women with pregnancy complications -- provide expert care to you and support to your OB / GYN.
Your plan of treatment may include regular visits to the maternal-fetal specialist and / or hospitalization. You'll receive your care at the Level III (highest level of expertise) perinatal units within Good Samaritan Hospital's Seton Center or University Hospital Birthing Center.
Our leading specialists include William Polzin, MD, associate director and Jeffrey Charles Livingston, MD, associate director.
Fetal Surgery
Some fetal abnormalities require fetal surgery for your child. Fetal surgery may be performed in utero (while your baby is in your womb). Surgery may also be performed during delivery (Ex Utero Intrapartum Treatment procedure) and / or after you have had your baby.
