Bio
Dr. Karin Bierbrauer is an associate professor of neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine who joined the faculty of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in January 2005.
Dr. Bierbrauer received her neurosurgical training at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia and then went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago in 1991.
From 1991 to 2004, she practiced pediatric neurosurgery in Philadelphia, first at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and then at Temple University Children's Medical Center, where she directed the pediatric neurosurgery program. She is board-certified in Neurosurgery and also received certification by the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Bierbrauer's special areas of interest include spina bifida and all other types of spinal dysraphism (tethering of the spinal cord) and the care and management of neurosurgical diseases in the perinatal period, including hydrocephalus. She is a member of the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati's team of subspecialists and will direct the neurosurgical evaluation and treatment of children enrolled in the comprehensive Myelomeningocele / Spina Bifida Clinic at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
