Charles Mehlman, DO, MPH, is director of Musculoskeletal Outcomes Research for in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
Prior to his present position, Dr. Mehlman completed an Ohio University Orthopaedic Surgery Residency and a University of Cincinnati Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship.
Dr. Mehlman has also completed a Fellowship in Outcomes Research and Clinical Effectiveness and received a Master's of Public Health (MPH) degree from the Harvard School of Public Health.
In addition to serving as associate editor for The Journal of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics (The Orthopod), Dr. Mehlman is a consulting editor for the Physician and Sportsmedicine, as well as three other medical journals.
An early interest in evidence-based medical decision-making, meta-analysis, and patient-focused technology assessment led Dr. Mehlman to his present position as director of Musculoskeletal Outcomes Research.
Dr. Mehlman's current research projects focus on patient satisfaction, functional outcomes, and cost-effectiveness issues as they relate to orthopaedic treatments.
Dr. Mehlman also holds a dual appointment as assistant clinical professor of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Cincinnati and assistant clinical professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Ohio University. Strongly commitment to medical education,
Dr. Mehlman serves as director of Orthopaedic Resident Education at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
